Bay Hundred Seafood offers wholesale pricing on crabs & oysters that are brought in to our plant almost every day from watermen and crabbers who work along the rivers and tributaries of Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay. We also offer other seasonal seafood like soft crabs.
Our facilities are HAACPA approved and every care is taken to insure that our customers receive the freshest possible crabs, oysters and other seafood products available. We deliver direct to locations up and down the Atlantic coast, most frequently to businesses in and around Baltimore, Washington DC, and Annapolis on the west side of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and from Kent Island to Ocean City, MD on the Delmarva Peninsula.
Because of Bay Hundred’s central location in Talbot County on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, we are still able to get much of our seafood directly from the Chesapeake Bay watermen.
With a shorter turnaround time between getting the seafood into our plant, processing it and putting on our own trucks, you can be assured of getting some of the freshest oysters, crabs and fish available anywhere.
OUR OWN MILES RIVER BRAND®
Today, all their crab meat and oysters are shucked and hand picked locally at the Bay Hundred processing plant in the heart of Maryland’s Eastern Shore and packaged under the Spurry’s own Miles River Brand® label.
Not all shellfish are created equal and Joe continues in a family tradition to make sure that only the best crabmeat and the juiciest oysters are packaged under their own label and kept refrigerated at the lowest possible temperature until delivered to your place of business.

Locally we deliver fresh seafood almost every day to Eastern Shore locations in Easton, St. Michael’s, Tilghman Island, Kent Island, Oxford, Wye Mills, Wye Oak, Royal Oak, Denton, Chestertown, Centreville, Rock Hall, Queenstown, Grasonville, Stevensville, Vienna, Cambridge, Trappe, Preston, Ridgely, Salisbury, and Ocean City, MD, as well as to other restaurants and businesses in Sussex County, Delaware. Bay Hundred Seafood also delivers to well known restaurants like The Wharf in Washington DC, Salerno’s in Eldersburg, The Crab Shanty, Sea Pride, Sea King & CJ’s in Baltimore, plus Phillips Crab House, Higgins Crab House and Seacrets in Ocean City, MD. THE BAY HUNDRED STORY
In the early 1980s, Joe Spurry Sr. was still making a pretty good living as a crabber on the waterways of Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Joe, who comes from a long line of Chesapeake Bay crabbers and watermen, was bringing in so many crabs at that time that he couldn't sell them all locally. So, he started delivering a lot of his extras in nearby Annapolis and Baltimore, MD. It wasn’t long before the demand for good local Maryland seafood went through the roof and Joe, Sr. eventually sold his boat and gave up crabbing to focus on his growing distribution business.
Mr. Spurry saw an opportunity to do more than just sell fresh picked crabmeat and oysters to vendors up and down the Atlantic coast. By working hand in hand with about 40 - 50 local watermen throughout the year, and by personally traveling the entire east coast to find new places to ship to, or purchase from, he was soon able to expand his wholesale seafood business to include much more in the way of live crabs and oysters. Then in 1984, he purchased one of the last locally operating seafood processing plants on the eastern shore. But the location was perfectly situated right in the center of the Bay Hundred region.
Everything began to fall into place as the demand for good quality seafood from Maryland’s Eastern shore continued to grow and Bay Hundred Seafood, Inc. has built a long lasting reputation as a seafood supplier to more than a hundred well known restaurants all over the mid-Atlantic region.
A FAMILY RUN BUSINESS
Bay Hundred Seafood, Inc. has expanded the scope of Joe’s original vision over the past 3 decades and so have the Spurry family’s business enterprises. In the early 1990s, Joe, Sr. opened a family oriented seafood restaurant right next to the packing plant near St. Michael’s MD and named it the Chesapeake Landing Seafood Restaurant & Carry Out. Around the same time, the Spurry’s children began working in just about every phase of their family’s growing businesses and today, after proudly serving his country in the military, Joe Spurry, Jr. is now in charge of all the day to day operations of the family’s wholesale business while his sister Erin manages the family’s increasingly popular seafood restaurant.
